Everything You Can Do With A Dremel | Review

This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.

If you're the type of person who has/wants a tool for a specific job, then we have a lot to talk about today. This quality isn't a bad thing, honestly you probably have a lot less headaches than the rest of us. We are slowly, but surely becoming these types of people. It's just so nice to have just the right tool for the job, no more make shifting a janky tool or "making it work". Today we are going to be talking about sanding, grinding, cutting, polishing, and a couple other things. The best part is the majority of those things are done with one tool 😏.  Let me show ya.

The main core, the brains, the commander, of this whole operation is the Dremel 4300 Series 1.8 AMP Variable Speed Corded Rotary Tool Kit. This kit comes with it's own accessory kit including drum mandrels, sanding discs, metal cut off wheel, engraving cutter, sprial bits, brush wheel, polishing wheels and polishing compound, and a pivot light. You can literally do so much with just this one tool kit. Mostly ideal for cutting, sanding, grinding, drilling, and carving. We love using this tool to sand in hard to reach places. Oh! I almost forgot, the sanding drum mandrels come in all different grits, so you have a couple 60, 120, and 240 grit mandrels! To change out accessories, there is a lock button on the top of the tool, hold that down and use the wrench provided to loosen the collar. Stick your accessory in and do the same thing as before to lock in place, but tighten instead of loosen. One other thing is that this tool is Dremel's most powerful 1.8 Amp motor for maximum performance!

It's always a good thing to keep a little extra accessories on hand, ya know? Or whenever you run out of the accessories that come with the kit, here's some new kits that you can go for.

For sanding and polishing, the Dremel EZ Lock Sanding and Polishing Mini Kit for Metal, Steel, Wood, Brass, Aluminum, Plastics and Vinyl. This comes with 7 pieces that should really last you a while for around $22. These help with cleaning, polishing, smoothing and restoring materials. We really like to use this kit for metal materials the most, just because there is a really good buffer wheel in this kit, and you mostly polish metals anyway. This kit is for Dremel rotary tools only, so if you already have one, you are a step ahead!

For sanding and grinding, the Dremel EZ Lock and Drum Sanding/Grinding Rotary Tool Accessory Kit. This has a really good variety in it. It comes with 2 mandrels, 6 sanding discs that are different grits, 2 grinding stones, a grinding wheel, 6 sanding bands and an abrasive buff. This is a really good kit for getting super perfect shoe molding. If you are confused to what mandrels are, they are the actual piece that goes into the Dremel tool and the accessories connect to them. This kit comes with two because one is for the sanding bands to fit over and the other is for all the other pieces to connect to. That really is a cool feature so you aren't taking out the wrench every time you need to switch different grit sanding discs, or whatever it may be.

For cutting, the Dremel EZ Lock Cut-Off Wheel Set For Metal and Plastic. OK, this. This is the easiest way we have found to cut down screws and bolts that are too long. And we may or may not use this to cut open those hard to open plastic packaging. It's just to fun to not to, you know. The wheels for plastic are also really great for plexiglass if you need to make...not a straight cut. So, this kit includes 10 wheels, 4 for metal, 3 for plastic, and 3 thin cut blades, also comes with a mandrel. All the wheels are labeled for their intended use, so more time for looking like you know what you're doing. We are all just figuring things out as we go. Learning everyday. Again, this is for use with Dremel rotary tools.

Another really good attachment is the Dremel 32 in. Flex-Shaft Attachment. This is for use only with Dremel rotary tools, and we are pairing this with the the same Dremel 4300 series tool.

This attachment is for getting super detailed and having more control when polishing, wood carving, engraving, and so many other things. You can really make some neat personalized gifts with this tool! Plus, it is really good for getting in really right spaces, where a normal sized Dremel wouldn't fit. The Flex-Shaft has a 36 in. long cable with a 5 in. bend radius for more flexibility! You can go places with this tool.

Here's how to set this up with your Dremel rotary tool.

Take everything off your rotary tool. Twist the driver cap that came with the Flex-Shaft onto your rotary tool first. Tighten it with the wrench. Then, take the cable and twist that onto the rotary tool, making sure the shaft fits into the driver cap and the cable twists all the way on. Now you can attach Dremel accessories to the Flex-Shaft just as you would a normal Dremel.
