One word. Wow. We have only used a gas powered chainsaw before and thisMILWAUKEE M18 FUEL 16 in. 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Battery Brushless Cordless Chainsaw Kit is unreal! This chainsaw performs extremely well. Right behind our shop we have some trees that have been cut down, so we went to town on cutting up the limbs left over. We also took down a few more branches that were hanging over the shop and making us a little nervous, and of course Dylan just had to get up there and have some fun.
First off we noticed the weight. It is weighted, which is a good thing. We didn't really want a light weight battery powered chainsaw because we feel like it would be a little delicate. This one is super high quality and could probably go through anything. This definitely has the professional landscaper performance and durability.
We absolutely love that this is battery powered. We used the M18 12Ah battery pack and it lasted for so long! Plus we didn't even have it fully charged and it lasted around an hour and half of cutting. This chainsaw has the same power and performance as a 40 cc gas chainsaw, so it was really comfortable to use even with the power.
One thing we really like is the break that you turn on when it's not in use and turn off when you're ready to cut. The chainsaw will not run with the break on, so it's basically a safety feature. Also, when we were cutting down a branch the chain got caught, our fault completely, but the chain is super easy to put back on. This kit comes with an onboard scrench (screwdriver + wrench) and we could use that to take off the two bolts and front plate to reset the chain. Super simple, super easy.
Who thought the world would be coming to a battery powered chainsaw, but we are loving it! Not to mention the MILWAUKEE M18 FUEL 16 in. Cordless Chainsaw Kit is fully compatible with the M18 system, featuring over 175+ tools! If you are part of the Milwaukee fam this is a great addition to your collection and if you don't have any Milwaukee tools, this is a great start, especially if you are into lawn grooming and landscaping.
