Steel and Wood Workbench
We all have dreamed of having the ultimate shop or evenly simply the ultimate workbench. A workbench that can define you as maker. A workbench that is the center of attention. A workbench that you grin every time you use it. A workbench where all your best projects are made. Most importantly, a workbench that your kid's kid will love and cherish one day. This workbench is that workbench for us.

What are the Dimensions?
The dimensions are 27″ wide, 72 1/2″ long, and 33″ high.
How much did it cost to make?
Including the Vises, this work bench was roughly $500. Materials alone were only $250.
Why Steel?
The simple answer is to be different. We have never seen a Roubo style bench with a metal base. There are loads of benefits though.

What species of wood did you use?
Construction grade pine was used for the top and Sapele was used for the vises/end caps. The pine will last plenty long enough and it only costs $100 for a new top.
What vises are you using?
We made our own leg vise using this screw.

We also are using a Quick release end vise. This vise is great because its really strong and bolts directly onto the workbench.

What are those casters you are using?
It is pretty amazing being able to move this 400LB workbench around very easily, but it's ever better that we can entirely remove the casters as well. You can grab them here:
